I’m a licensed therapist. I’ve had the privilege of working almost ten years supporting a diverse population of clients toward their personal goals and helping them deconstruct the barriers in their way. I’ve also been in therapy myself on and off for over 20 years and experienced the life-changing benefits firsthand. I understand what it’s like to feel lost, overwhelmed, misunderstood and in doubt about yourself. I also know how important it is to find a therapist that’s the right fit for you. When we lack compassion for ourselves, we filter out meaningful information that helps us to make important decisions and to see ourselves accurately. An inaccurate view of ourselves (one characterized by low self worth/low self esteem) can fuel problems such as depression, substance misuse, and anxiety… It can be why we stay in situations that aren’t healthy for us (relationships, jobs…). That critical voice inside you is loud and strong but there’s a fiery little voice in there too. Just waiting to be nurtured and hyped up. And that’s probably the voice that’s guiding you toward therapy. At first it can take a lot of energy to identify and challenge these negative/biased ways of thinking. But with some time, patience, and practice (and a wee bit of support), you *can* rewire the neural pathways in your brain and create a new foundation. One that’s not just kinder to yourself… but also more accurate. I consider every client to be the expert on themselves--no one is going to understand your needs better than you!--but I feel so honored and excited to support you in this process!
